摘要：Some scholars think Americans usually accept compliments with 'Thanks' or 'Thank you'. But in daily life Americans have different attitudes towards compliments. So their responses are various. This paper lists more than ten ways of responses in American English. And the author analyses the principles of politeness Americans adhere to in response to compliments and variables influencing their replles.
