摘要：科技英语作为一种重要的英语文体,为人们从事科技活动时所使用,它不同于一般的非科技英语文体。其中长句的大量使用便是科技英语中一种常见的语言现象。由于长句中语言结构层次多,成分复杂,修饰语多,这无疑会造成理解和翻译上的困难。为了克服这一困难,本文拟从科技英语长句的句法结构入手,对长句的翻译方法作粗略探讨,最后试指出该分析对读者和译者具有一定的指导意义。
English for science and technology（abbreviated to EST） is an important kind of English variety,which is widely applied in the scientific activities.It is different from the non-scientific English varieties.The adoption of volume of lengthy sentences is a common linguistic phenomenon in the EST.The EST syntactically features being lengthy,tight and intricate,which usually cause people difficulty in understanding and translating.In order to overcome this difficulty,this paper firstly examines the syntactic structures of EST lengthy sentences and then generally analyzes their translation skills.After this general analysis,this paper aims to provide a certain instructive significance for the EST readers and translators.
