摘要：古黄河纵贯新乡地区,把新乡切割成西北、东南两大块。西部山西移民多,以晋语为主;东部人口则以河南官话为主。黄河迁徙后,中间故道便成为两边语言的融合带、过渡带,也成为新乡方言入声和尖团音的分界线。
The City of Xinxiang is divided into two parts by old Yellow River streaming from southwest to northeast. The language of Jin is the main dialect of west area of Xinxiang, because most population of this area came from Shanxi province. Whereas, most population residing in the east region of Xinxiang speak Henan mandarin. Since Yellow River had changed its riverway, the old drainage area became a mixed zone characterized both languages, and also marked the boundary between the accents of Jiantuan and Rusheng.
