摘要：赫伯特·乔治·威尔斯以科幻小说和乌托邦小说著称于世,他采用科幻小说的形式进行乌托邦创作,使得科幻小说一举成为20世纪西方乌托邦文学最重要的艺术形式,并进一步加强了乌托邦文学批判现实的社会功能。在《莫洛医生的岛屿》中,威尔斯设置了一系列隐喻,巧妙地表达了他关注社会、批判现实的创作理念。
H. G. Wells is well-known for his science fictions and utopian novels. He applied the form of Science Fiction to his u- topian creation and further strengthened its social function of critical realism, which ultimately turned science fiction into the most im- portant art form of western utopian literature in the 20th century. In The Island of Dr. Moreau, Wells sets a series of metaphors to skill- fully express his concern about society and criticism of reality.
